RUNBELFAST 2023

The  RunBelfast 2023 running season has ended. This sixth season of RunBelfast offered the five events listed below:  four old favorites and one new event.  Paces for PAWS and Run Wild! were held on the Belfast Rail Trail:   Paces for PAWS had its start/finish at the Depot terminus of the trail; while Run Wild! had its start/finish on Front Street at Marshall Wharf.  Both were fairly flat, out-and-back courses.  The Rotary Bug Run offered a fairly flat course that included a few gentle hills, shaded neighborhoods, a stretch along the waterfront, and the Armistice Foot Bridge across the Passagassawakeag River.  Please note that the Bug Run was held the Saturday during Harbor Fest festivities.  The YMCA planned to sponsor two runs focused on kids (see below).  However, the YMCA had difficulties finding a date for their runs that didn't impact/conflict with other community commitments.  To that end, the Superheroes for Kids 5K on Saturday, October 7, was cancelled. The Lions Ghostly Gallop was staged out of Belfast Area High School with a course that wound through scenic Belfast neighborhoods.

A special registration was available during pre-registration for the Paces for PAWS 5K for individuals who planned to run all five RunBelfast events. Individuals who registered for all five runs paid a reduced fee and were eligible for each run’s goodies and received a special recognition award for their participation.

The series was supported by the City of Belfast Parks & Recreation Department. Police support was professionally provided by the Belfast Police Department.

We enjoyed scheduling the events for RunBelfast 2023. Plans are already underway to have another five-run season in 2024. Thanks to all who ran with us. And thanks to those who came out to support the runners. We look forward to seeing all next year.

Be well, be safe, your RunBelfast Team
